About Us
The Center for Political and Democratic Studies (Puskapoldem) is an institution managed by the Department of Political Science (DIP) under the auspices of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Hasanuddin University. Within its scope, Puskapoldem has a main focus on in-depth research and advocacy activities related to relevant political and democratic issues.
Puskapoldem seeks to influence public policy, fight for democratic values, and promote political practices that are inclusive, transparent and fair.
Puskapoldem is not only a center of excellence in political and democratic research, but also a strategic partner for stakeholders interested in understanding, analyzing and responding to various political and democratic challenges faced by society and the country in general.

Areas of expertise
1. Local Politics
- The local politics area of expertise at the Center for Political and Democratic Studies involves in-depth analysis of political dynamics at the local or regional level. We study various aspects of local politics, such as the process of policy formation at the regional level, the dynamics of political competition between local actors, community participation in decision making, and the relationship between local governments and local citizens. Our research deepens understanding of how local policies are created, implemented, and evaluated, with a focus on their impact on well-being and community participation at the local level.
2. Democracy
As a center for political and democratic studies, we have deep expertise in the study of political systems based on democratic principles. We analyze various aspects of democracy, including political participation, human rights, electoral integrity, and good governance. Our research aims to understand the challenges and opportunities in strengthening democracy, including evaluating the quality of democracy, innovation in democratic practice, and capacity building to encourage citizen participation in the political process.
3. Election Governance
Puskapoldem also has expertise in election governance, which includes the study of various aspects related to holding general elections. We analyze election planning, implementation and evaluation, as well as regulations and policies related to the election process. In addition, to understand the challenges in ensuring integrity, transparency and fair participation in elections, as well as to provide policy recommendations that can improve the democratization process through better practices in election governance.
