Master of Political Science
The Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Hasanuddin University is one of the Political Science Departments that is a reference in the Eastern Indonesia Region. The Department of Political Science fosters undergraduate, master’s and doctoral study programs that were just ratified in 2020.
Education The Master of Political Science Study Program was opened on January 12, 2011 through the Decree on the Opening of the Study Program with Number 12/D/O/2011. The Master of Political Science Study Program at the beginning of its establishment managed the Political Science Study Interest, this study is an actualization of the Vision of the Maritime Continent of Hasanuddin University. The Master of Political Science Unhas continues to strive to develop its competencies and establish various collaborations with various stakeholders including collaboration with the General Election Commission (KPU) in order to improve the quality of KPU human resources, so the Election Governance interest class was opened. This study interest is specifically for KPU employees who receive scholarships from the KPU institution to continue their education. In addition to collaboration with the KPU, the study program through the faculty also carries out various collaborations with the Election Supervisory Body (BAWASLU). Enthusiasm for the Political Science Masters Study Program shows quite good development, students not only come from the South Sulawesi region but also from various regions outside South Sulawesi Island such as Kalimantan, Papua, and other regions. This shows the enthusiasm of students to glance at the Unhas Political Science Masters Study Program. Especially for enthusiasts from the Eastern Indonesia Region.
The Political Science Masters Study Program has been running well so far, this is indicated by the acquisition of B accreditation status in 2014 by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). BAN-PT, through SK BAN-PT Number: 281 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / M / VIII / 2014. The assessment received shows that the management and resources owned by the study program are good and meet national standards for education delivery. After going through the accreditation process again in 2022, the study program again received a Very Good Accreditation rating from July 19, 2022 – July 19, 2027 by BAN-PT Through BAN-PT Decree Number: 4580 / SK / BAN-PT / Ak / M / VII / 2022.
The current ratio of lecturers and students for the master’s program is 1:20. Currently, the number of permanent lecturers in the study program in the master’s of political science, based on the Decree of the Rector of Hasanuddin University Number 5372 / UN4.1 / KEP / 2020 concerning the Determination of Homebase Lecturers for the Master of Political Science Study Program, is five people with the number of active students in the study program of 56 people. So based on this number, the ratio of lecturers and students in the Master of Political Science Study Program is 1:12. This ratio is still within the range of the ratio set by academic regulations.
Efforts to achieve efficiency and effectiveness of leadership in the Hasanuddin University Master of Political Science Study Program, can be seen that since the establishment of this study program in 2011, it has been continuously chaired by 3 (three) resource persons from the Department of Political Science, and 2 (two) times led by the Vice Dean for Academic, Research and Innovation in the process of transferring the Head of the Master of Political Science Study Program. The Master of Political Science Study Program was officially opened in 2011, consecutively from 2011-2018 the Head of the Study Program was held by Prof. Dr. Kausar Bailusy, MA., after entering retirement age, the position held was then Plt-ed to the Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Innovation, after going through the election mechanism, Prof. Dr. Muhammad was elected as the Head of the Master of Politics Study Program for the 2018-2022 Period, because Prof. Dr. Muhammad was elected as the Head of the DKPP RI, the Head of the Master of Politics Study Program was Plt-ed to the Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Innovation. In continuing the remaining term of office of Prof. Dr. Muhammad in 2020-2022, Dr. Ariana, S.I.P., M.Si. was elected as the Head of the Master of Political Science Study Program for the 2022-2026 period. Dr. Ariana, S.I.P., M.Si was re-elected.
